Where dreams live
When I first moved to Albany, Georgia, this was one of the first landamarks that fixated it's self in my mind. This statue of Jesus is perfectly situated in the middle of a graveyard. Now, the fact that this statue is positioned in a graveyard is not the idea behind this photo. If you notice in the background, there is a set of living quarters. People not only lay in rest here, but they also live here. To me, this was compelling...
Could you imagine waking up every morning of your life to a graveyard? Could you imagine having a dream inside of you so real, that you could feel it moving on the inside of you, YET dealing with the fact that everyday, the first image you encounter is indeed, a graveyard. I have pondered this over the years... "Is this where dreams live?" All over the country, everyday, this episode plays out. Perhaps it's a child with the dream of being President, yet every morning the first thing that he or she sees is a drunken mother, or an abusive father. Perhaps it's a 20 something with the dream of being and Astronaut, however; everyday, they wake up to an environment filled with gangs, drugs and prostitution. Is THIS where dreams live? Reflective.President Barack Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize
It's an amazing time we are living in...
President Barack Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize is a HUGE feat. I am so blessed to be living in a time where I am able to see such great accomplishments. I am excited about this for two reasons... 1. This opens the doors to new possibilities and new belief systems among America's minority youth... It IS possible...2. Dreams manifested... I am sure that this very feat of accomplishment is or has been the dream of many, and seeing this happen gives a visual "goal post" for the Dreamer to reach for. I am inspired.
Where most businesses stay when it comes to innovation
With each business leader that I talk to about innovating and being creative within their organizations, this is where I find most of them (see the above picture)...
On a tightrope. Most business leaders focus so much energy into the incremental increases found through "better mousetrap mentality" that they seldom ever reap the true reward found through authentic innovation. This is not only a disservice to the legacy of the business, BUT it is indeed a organizational creativity killer. We have to find a perfect balance between innovation and number chasing. Truly innovative companies do not spend much time considering competition instead the spend time considering "possibilities". Apple spent time wondering about the possibilities of a device that would replace not only the cell phone, but the Mp3 player and the laptop in one clean sweep and they just about did it with the iPhone... The iPhone started as a possibility. It's the possibilities that separate incredible design from good design. It's the possibilities that make tomorrow a better place. Design Idea: Design towards possibilities and not the competition. Find that perfect balance between number crunching and authentic innovation... As fast as you can.Remixing Soul Camp 2010: Soulful Intervention
A few days ago I posted a update to my Facebook page that went something like this...
Rethink. Redefine. Reinvent. This is something that I have always believed in and something that I have always "preached" to people I am coaching and or mentoring. TODAY however; I had to quickly preach it to myself. After a day of pondering ideas for a workshop that I am designing - geared towards helping organization leaders re-connect with the soul of their project[s] - I called it "Soul Camp 2010: Soulful Intervention" and this was an idea that I pulled from a recent creative/strategy session that I had with a non-profit group that is about to do something TOTALLY amazing... More info on that coming later... ANYHOO! This session was like no other I had ever experienced. At the end of it - I was so connected to the project, that I knew that the format and structure of the session had great value. Throughout the course of the session the idea "Soul Camp" was like a vapor filling the atmosphere - AND ultimately we started calling what we were experiencing "Soul Camp". Here is where it get's tricky.... Today I sat and reflected on that experience and I wanted to give the idea some legs, some legacy, and I named my up-coming workshop - Soul Camp 2010: Soulful Intervention... WELL shortly after building intro graphics and starting my collaborative efforts I received a tweet from a team member, that the term "Soul Camp" was the brainchild of one of the earlier session participants... NOT only was I thrown back, BUT I was dismayed because I would never steal an idea... NEVER!! And if you know me... I have far too many of my own!! Long story short... I had to take my advice... Rethink. Redefine. Reinvent. Sorry @Kindness girl (http://twitter.com/kindnessgirl) for steppin on your toes!! You rock, and I am sure you will rock "Soul Camp".. Let's go!Soul Camp 2010: Soulful Intervention
Thinking about Soul Camp 2010: Soulful Intervention - Reconnecting leaders to the soul of their project [s] for the purpose of innovating and designing new products and services... Looking for collaborators and thinkers...

Rethinking the branding on this idea... Stay tuned!!
The sustainability of love
Why I do what I do... Legacy.
The girl in this image depends on me. Not simply for her shelter, food and clothing, BUT she depends on me for her creative well-being. She depends on me to shape a future, a brighter one, one that is sustainable. She depends on my courage, and my tenacity in a very profound way and the totality of her dependence has an end road, and this end road is called legacy. See... One day she will have an image, and in that image will be someone that depends on her. And the things that I forward to her, she will in fact... Forward to them. So in all that I do, I am forever reminded of the Big Why of it all. I am reminded of the unspoken truth that prevails in my every waking moment. I am reminded of legacy and the importance of it.
Thank you John Haydon (@JohnHaydon) for being a reminder, a voice and an influence. You rock brotha!!Daddy loves you soooo much KaRiana Hunt (@KaRianaHunt)...
Ideation: Blogging with passion - Soulful Excellence
2. Sift - Sift through the noise, capture the ideas that line up with your field of passion
3. Refine - Take what you discover and shape it to an idea that you can get fired up about, for example: One of my Followers (@LifeofSubstance) tweets... "@VincentHunt blog about ideation... as in how u get ideas about what to blog about" I took this and asked myself a few questions, internal ones, and I discovered that though I think it's important to talk about the ideation process, I think it's MORE important (to me, and hopefully you) that I dig deeper and talk about the "vein" that the ideas need to come from, THEN support that idea with a process - THUS... Ideation: Blogging with passion - Soulful Excellence ... becomes the blog post. This idea is something that I can get fired up about, and it allows me to feed my readers content that matters to them, while also giving me the space I need to fully rest in my passion field (no worries... I will be blogging about "passion fields", I have mentioned it quite a bit in this post). 4. Deliver - Deliver the idea with the passion that created it. Write it in YOUR style, and make the words come alive on the screen. In conclusion.. The Ideation process behind finding topics to blog about should be an organic one. One that supports and nurtures your passion field, delivers relevant and meaningful content to your readers and last but not east, compels your readers to engage your content in a way that is sustainable.
Are we totally out of control?
2. Colorful expression
3. Being courageous
4. Being fearless
5. Rule breaking What I am against... 1. Thoughtless speech
2. Thoughtless expression
3. Thoughtless courage
4. Thoughtless fearlessness
5. Hell... Just being THOUGHTLESS Now that we have that straight... Let's get at it... The idea: Are we totally out of control as Thought Leaders? ... Key word here "Thought". Now let's get it! The other night I was watching the VMA awards along with millions of other people, and I witnessed something that not only shook my soul, but quite honestly it embarassed me. An Artist that I have absolute respect for, Kanye West, executed what I felt was a blatant toss of power that should have never happened. While an Artist was on stage (a young Artist), Taylor Swift (19) was receiving an award for hard work, and the courage to do something that many only aspire to do, Kanye West, a Thought Leader in an era where thoughts are easily spread, and ideas are weapons came on stage and, in a nutshell stole a moment from Swift that she will never get back... Never. Period. AND what did Kanye gain? Attention... The single most valuable commodity of our culture, and he got it at the cost of Swift. This saddens me.... Are we totally out of control? No. BUT we have lost sight of what's really important. In a culture where people would literally put babies at risk or hurt animals on YouTube for "hits" or ATTENTION, it's becoming increasingly important that we do self-checks often. We have to be able to hold ourselves accountable to the things we say and or do. We must do the most critical part of being a Thought Leaders... We must be more thoughtful. Kanye was not thinking, or perhaps he was, I have no clue, BUT I bet if he was being more thoughtful, he would have thought about the "word scars" that he left on Swift. He would have been more thoughtful about the robbery he was executing, Swift will never get that moment back... Shame on you Kanye... Let's be more thoughtful. Period. Closing thoughts... 1. Yeah you can say what you like, but what's your motive? Think about it...
2. Are you being thoughtful in your day to day interactions? These "little interactions" can and will turn into "adult interactions" don't get caught slippin...
3. Attention is EVERYTHING and NOT everything... Period. Boom!
